THE SILENCE BENEATH THE SURFACE
This A2 sized artwork portrays a struggle that no one hears — a silent suffocation of self. The face is visible, yet trapped, as if something invisible but powerful is pressing down, distorting identity and breath at the same time. The torn, stretched surface suggests a desperate attempt to break free not just physically, but emotionally, mentally & spiritually.
“The Silence Beneath the Surface” speaks to the hidden pain the kind people carry behind calm expressions, behind forced composure, behind the version of themselves the world is allowed to see. It represents the tension between appearance and reality or more like what is shown versus what is endured.
It’s the emotion of being present… but unheard.
Alive… but restricted.
Seen… but not truly understood.
And in the tearing......there is both agony and hope. Because something that fights to break through… still believes freedom exists.
